Pakistan Receives $3.2 Billion in Remittances in April 2025
According to data released by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) on Friday, Pakistan’s inflow of remittances from overseas workers totaled $3.2 billion in April 2025.
This represents a 13.1% increase compared to the $2.81 billion recorded in the same month the previous year. However, on a month-over-month basis, remittances decreased by 22% from $4.1 billion in March.
Cumulatively, during Jul-Apr, FY25, worker’s remittances saw a 31% increase, with an inflow of $31.2 billion, compared to the $23.9 billion received during Jul-Apr, FY24.
Remittances from abroad are crucial in bolstering the nation’s external account, fostering economic activity, and supplementing the financial resources of households dependent on these funds.
Last month, SBP Governor Jameel Ahmad projected that the current account would maintain a surplus throughout the fiscal year, citing the robust level of remittances.
He stated that this would be the strongest performance on the external account in the last two decades, anticipating a substantial surplus.
