John Cena Explains Retirement Decision
WWE icon John Cena recently shared insights into his decision to retire during an interview. Cena, who was the prominent figure of WWE for over a decade, transitioned to a part-time role following his entry into Hollywood.
The 48-year-old, boasting 17 world championships, initially stunned fans with his retirement announcement slated for 2025. However, he made a comeback to WWE earlier this year for a farewell appearance, securing the undisputed championship at WrestleMania 41.
Speaking with Stephanie McMahon, Cena revealed that his physical capabilities played a crucial role in his choice. He expressed disappointment over his declining ability to perform weightlifting exercises he once enjoyed.
Cena also acknowledged a decline in his wrestling abilities, noting that his in-ring skills were diminishing.
Cena’s Statement
“I am unable to perform lifts that I used to do because my body is worn out. Coming to terms with the fact that I will never overhead press a certain weight again was difficult. My abilities are regressing,” Cena stated.
He further elaborated, “Continuing with full-time physical involvement would negatively impact my performance and partnerships. It’s time to conclude this chapter. I wish I was younger and in better shape because I feel most at home in the ring.”
