In anticipation of Eid ul Fitr, Rawalpindi’s 45 recreational spots are undergoing significant renovations to provide an enhanced festive experience for residents and visitors. The Parks & Horticulture Authority (PHA), under the leadership of Director General Ahmed Hassan Ranjha, has initiated a series of upgrades aimed at revitalizing these public spaces.

New Attractions and Facilities

To cater to families and children, several parks are introducing new amusement rides such as battery-operated cars, dodging cars, and computer games. Ayub National Park has added modern boats across its three lakes, offering visitors an enjoyable boating experience. Joyland is enhancing its appeal by installing European-style amusement rides. Additionally, a diverse range of animals, including pet birds, predators like wolves, lions, cheetahs, and bears, as well as elephants, ostriches, deer, and monkeys, will be on display to captivate and educate visitors. New species of aquatic birds have also been introduced to the park’s lakes.

In Patriata, the popular chairlift has been upgraded and is scheduled to be operational in time for Eid, providing visitors with scenic views and a memorable experience.

Operational Hours and Entry Details

During the first three days of Eid, parks will remain open from 9 AM until 1 AM, allowing families ample time to enjoy the festivities. On the fourth day, regular operating hours of 10 AM to midnight will resume. Entry to all parks will remain free; however, rides and other attractions will require tickets, with prices adjusted this year due to inflation. Parking fees for cars and motorcycles have also been revised.

Security and Safety Measures

To ensure the safety and security of visitors, CCTV cameras are being installed at all recreational sites and are expected to be fully functional before Eid. Additional security personnel have been deployed, and security protocols have been upgraded to provide a safe environment for all attendees.

Enhanced Amenities and Decorations

Food stalls, including both regular vendors and additional setups, will be available across the parks, offering a variety of refreshments. Larger parks will feature camel and horse rides, as well as pony and carriage rides, adding to the festive atmosphere. Modern decorative lighting and floral arrangements have been implemented to enhance the visual appeal of the parks. Family-friendly attractions, including small monuments, have also been introduced for visitors’ enjoyment.

The PHA aims to complete all renovation and decoration work by March 30, ensuring that the parks are ready to welcome visitors for the Eid celebrations. Major parks such as Children’s Park, Ladies Park, Ayub Park, Allama Iqbal Park, Shehbaz Sharif Park, Patriata Park, and Jinnah Park are receiving particular attention to provide an exceptional experience for all attendees.

These comprehensive efforts reflect the city’s commitment to enhancing public spaces and fostering a vibrant, festive environment for the community during Eid ul Fitr.
