Ramiz Raja Applauds Squad Selection for Bangladesh T20Is

Former Pakistani cricketer and ex-PCB Chairman Ramiz Raja has voiced his approval regarding the selection of two dynamic all-rounders for the national team’s upcoming three-match T20I series against Bangladesh. The series is scheduled to commence on July 20 at the Shere-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka.

In a statement on his YouTube channel, Raja praised the selectors’ decisions and conveyed his contentment with the overall squad composition.

“The return of Mohammad Nawaz is particularly pleasing, given his unwavering commitment to cricket,” Raja remarked. “Similarly, Hussain Talat’s selection is commendable. His game has evolved noticeably, demonstrating significant improvement.”

Raja also commented on the inclusion of young pace bowler Salman Mirza, lauding his bowling prowess and composure.

“Salman Mirza’s inclusion is noteworthy. I appreciate his rapid arm action and evident temperament. He appears to be a promising choice,” he observed.

The Pakistan Cricket Board had previously announced a 15-member squad for the T20I series.

All-rounder Agha Salman will continue to captain the side, stepping in for key players. Shadab Khan, the vice-captain, and Haris Rauf were sidelined due to injuries.

Shadab recently underwent a successful surgery in the UK on his right shoulder to address a persistent issue.

Their absence paved the way for Mohammad Nawaz’s comeback and provided an opportunity for left-arm pacer Salman Mirza, who earned his first national call-up after standout performances in Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 10.

Nawaz’s last T20I appearance for Pakistan was in January 2024 against New Zealand.

The Pakistan squad is expected to arrive in Bangladesh on July 16. The three T20I matches are slated for July 20, 22, and 24 in Dhaka.
