R-Truth Announces Departure from WWE After 16 Years

Ron Killings, recognized as the WWE veteran R-Truth, has publicly declared his exit from World Wrestling Entertainment, concluding an impressive 16-year tenure marked by memorable moments and widespread popularity.

The 53-year-old entertainer revealed on X (formerly Twitter) that he has been released from his contract. He conveyed deep appreciation to both his fans and the WWE community.

“I regret to inform everyone that I have been released by WWE. I want to express my gratitude to WWE for the journey, and especially to each of you who joined me along the way. Your love, support, and appreciation mean everything. Thank you,” R-Truth stated.

Subsequent reports have confirmed that WWE chose not to extend his contract upon its expiration. While still technically under contract, Truth’s statement reflects the organization’s determination concerning his future.

This announcement follows his recent match against his long-time idol, John Cena, at Saturday Night’s Main Event, and a subsequent match on SmackDown where he was defeated by JC Mateo.

Truth, celebrated for his versatility and humor, initially joined WWE in 2008 for his second stint.

His initial period, from 1999 to 2001 as K-Kwik, preceded a successful period in TNA Wrestling, where he secured two NWA World Heavyweight Championships. Upon his return to WWE, he became renowned for comedy, multiple 24/7 Championship reigns, and a strong rapport with his audience.

Many had anticipated R-Truth would remain a consistent presence within WWE. Nevertheless, the corporate restructuring initiated by the TKO merger has steered the company in a different direction, impacting even established veterans like Truth.

Rhea Ripley was among the first to respond, having previously collaborated with Truth in a comedic storyline. Ripley commented, “In all seriousness, this is literally so heartbreaking… Thank you Truth,”.

Truth returned at Survivor Series 2023 and formed a popular tag team with The Miz, winning the Raw Tag Team Titles at WrestleMania 40.
