Gladiators Post 201-9 Against Qalandars in PSL 10 Final

In the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10 final at Gaddafi Stadium on Sunday, Hasan Nawaz’s explosive innings propelled Quetta Gladiators to a substantial score of 201-9 in their 20 overs against Lahore Qalandars.

After winning the toss and choosing to bat, Quetta faced an initial blow when Saud Shakeel, the captain, was removed early by Shaheen Afridi, Qalandars’ skipper, for a mere four runs off six balls, leaving the Gladiators at 17-1 in 2.4 overs.

Quetta’s struggles persisted into the following over as Salman Mirza dismissed Finn Allen for 12 runs from 11 balls, intensifying the early pressure on the team.

Nevertheless, a 38-run partnership between Rilee Rossouw and Hasan Nawaz provided some stability to the innings.

Rossouw appeared threatening, but his time at the crease was cut short by Sikandar Raza, who quickly dismissed him for a rapid 22 off just 11 balls. At this point, Quetta stood at 58-3 in 6.2 overs.

Hasan Nawaz displayed impressive form, achieving his third half-century of the season. He formed a vital 67-run partnership with Avishka Fernando, helping Quetta to recover momentum.

Fernando was removed for 29 runs off 22 balls by Rishad Hossain, who secured his first wicket with the score at 125-4 in 12.5 overs.

Dinesh Chandimal then joined Nawaz, contributing valuable support, hitting two sixes off Sikandar Raza in the 17th over, pushing the score to 170-4.

Shaheen Afridi returned to disrupt the momentum, dismissing Chandimal for a quick 22 runs off 13 balls. Shortly after, he struck again, removing the well-established Hasan Nawaz for an impressive 76 runs from 43 deliveries, reducing Quetta to 172-6 in 17.5 overs.

Haris Rauf further weakened Quetta’s chances in the 19th over by dismissing Mohammad Amir and Abrar Ahmed for no score, damaging their aspirations for a strong finish.

However, Faheem Ashraf played a crucial cameo in the final over, smashing 28 runs off a mere eight balls, which included multiple boundaries, enabling Quetta to surpass the 200-run mark. He was dismissed on the innings’ final ball.

For Qalandars, Shaheen was the leading wicket-taker with three wickets in his spell, followed by Salman Mirza and Haris Rauf, who each took two wickets, and Sikandar Raza and Rishad Hossain, who each claimed one wicket.
