Punjab Announces Early Summer Vacations Amid Heatwave

Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat declared on Tuesday that summer vacations for all schools in the province will commence on May 28.

This decision is a prompt reaction to the escalating heatwave affecting the province. Hayat highlighted the government’s dedication to ensuring the safety and well-being of both students and staff given the extreme heat conditions.

He mentioned that the appropriate authorities have already disseminated detailed safety guidelines to the public. The early announcement of the summer break is in line with these vital preventive actions.

To offer immediate relief, the education minister also declared an adjustment to school hours, which will be effective tomorrow, May 21.

The revised school hours will be from 7:30am to 11:30am. This modification is designed to allow students to leave before the hottest part of the day arrives.

“New School Timings = 7 30 am to 11 30 am,” Hayat posted on X. “School Holidays Start from The 28th of May(28th will be a Holiday).”

While recognising the necessity of making up for learning losses experienced earlier in the academic year as a result of numerous school closures, Minister Hayat emphasised that the safety of students is the utmost concern.

Parents and school administrators are urged to take note of the updated summer vacation schedule and the immediate implementation of the new school timings.
