Punjab Scraps Birth and Death Registration Fees

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has declared the elimination of all charges associated with birth and death registrations throughout the province. This initiative is being hailed as a substantial advancement in safeguarding the fundamental rights of the populace.

“A verifiable identity constitutes a basic entitlement for each individual, and we aim to simplify the process for the citizenry,” stated the Chief Minister.

Furthermore, she instructed the relevant departments to ensure the prompt implementation of the Birth & Death Registration Rules 2025.

According to the updated policy, citizens can now register births and deaths without any cost at Union Councils and Municipal Committees for a period of up to seven years. The necessity of obtaining a court order for delayed registrations has also been waived.

CM Maryam also mentioned that computerized birth and death certificates will be provided at no charge. She underscored that the prompt registration guarantees the protection of civil liberties.

She emphasized that the digital certificate is an essential requirement for accessing vital services and encouraged officials to assist citizens throughout these recently established modifications.
