In a landmark move for sustainable transportation, Punjab’s Chief Minister, Maryam Nawaz, officially launched Pakistan’s first fully electric bus service in Lahore. This service will feature 27 electric buses operating on a 21-kilometer route, making travel greener and more efficient.
The buses come equipped with state-of-the-art features, including GPS trackers, Wi-Fi, and special seating for the disabled. Safety is a priority, with anti-slip flooring, security cameras, and a women-only section to ensure comfort and protection for all passengers.
With a capacity to serve 17,000 passengers daily, the service will run on a route from the Railway Station to Green Town, covering areas such as Queen’s Road, Mazang, and Ferozepur Road. The buses will arrive every 9 minutes, providing a convenient travel experience for commuters.
In addition to the buses, 42 modern bus shelters have been established, and passengers can track the buses through a dedicated app. The service will officially commence in mid-February, ushering in a new era of eco-friendly public transport in Lahore.
