Islamabad United Maintains Unbeaten Streak in PSL 10 Under Shadab Khan

KARACHI: Islamabad United showcased their strength in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10 with a convincing victory against Karachi Kings on Sunday at the National Bank Cricket Stadium.

This triumph marked their fourth successive win, as they efficiently overtook a reasonable target established by the Kings.

After being put in to bat, Karachi Kings encountered difficulties early on, with wickets falling consistently. Ultimately, the Kings were limited to 128-7 in their 20 overs.

Naseem Shah, Jason Holder, and Shadab Khan stood out as key bowlers for Islamabad, each securing two wickets. Imad Wasim also played a role, taking one wicket.

Islamabad United successfully reached the set target, achieving a four-wicket victory in just 17.1 overs.

However, despite the win, United’s all-rounder Imad Wasim stirred some controversy due to his unique celebratory gesture.

During the Kings’ batting innings, Imad was introduced into the attack and promptly dismissed Tim Seifert, who executed a shot towards the spinner, allowing Imad to make a straightforward catch.

Following the dismissal, Imad’s celebration included jumping, smiling, and positioning one hand on his forehead while the other rested on his head.

This unusual celebration sparked negative reactions from some fans, who used social media platform ‘X’ to express their disapproval.

“Monkey Dance move 🤣🤣😭,” one fan commented, while another sarcastically remarked, “Chutpaglu celebrating it like he has played a match-winning inning against India in the World Cup.”

Others referenced his performance during the 2024 T20 World Cup, with one fan questioning, “Did he dance like this after that horrific WC innings vs India?”

The criticism continued with comments such as, “Cringe man… cringe celebration,” and “Bhai, washroom chala ja, wrna mamla kharb hojna.”

Despite the negative feedback, Shadab Khan’s Islamabad United remain undefeated in PSL 10, leading the points table with eight points from four matches.

Their next challenge will be against Multan Sultans on April 23 at Multan Cricket Stadium.
