Islamabad United Clinches Victory Against Multan Sultans

Islamabad United, the reigning champions, showcased their dominance with a convincing seven-wicket triumph over Multan Sultans in the 13th match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10, held at the Multan Cricket Stadium on Wednesday.

The Sultans, batting first, managed to score 168/5 in their allotted 20 overs, with Usman Khan’s resilient half-century being a highlight.

However, the target of 169 runs was easily surpassed by Islamabad United, who achieved the feat with 17 balls remaining.

Opener Andries Gous played a pivotal role in the chase, remaining undefeated with a score of 80 off 45 balls. His innings included six boundaries and five towering sixes, earning him the Player of the Match award.

This victory marks the defending champions’ fifth consecutive win and solidifies their top position in the PSL 10 standings. They currently hold 10 points from five matches, accompanied by a substantial net run rate of 2.342.

In contrast, the Sultans have now suffered their fourth loss in five games and find themselves at the bottom of the table with only two points and a net run rate of -1.764.

Karachi Kings occupy the second spot with six points from five matches, but their net run rate of -0.215 remains a cause for concern. Lahore Qalandars follow closely in third place with four points from four matches.

Peshawar Zalmi are currently positioned fourth, despite having won only one of their four matches. Their superior net run rate gives them an edge over Quetta Gladiators, who are fifth with two points but have played one game less.
