PSL 10 Final: Qalandars and Gladiators Set for Showdown
A significant dust storm, followed by substantial rainfall, swept through areas of Lahore on Saturday. This occurred a day before the city is scheduled to host the highly anticipated Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10 final.
Reports indicate that the storm descended upon the city around 4 PM, bringing with it heavy cloud cover that created a night-like atmosphere even before dusk.
The dust storm was quickly succeeded by considerable rainfall, which led to incidents of uprooted trees and damaged walls.
While the abrupt change in weather brought down temperatures in the city, which had been enduring a period of intense heat, it has also cast uncertainty over the PSL 10 final. The final is set to take place between the Lahore Qalandars and the Quetta Gladiators at Gaddafi Stadium on Sunday.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department has indicated that Lahore is expected to experience further rainfall on Sunday, with temperatures expected to range between 40 and 42 degrees Celsius.
Consequently, the climactic match is at risk of disruption due to the adverse weather conditions.
If the final match is entirely called off on its scheduled day, then, in accordance with article 16.11.1.1 of the PSL Playing Conditions, the reserve day will be used.
However, given that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has made no announcement regarding a reserve day for the PSL 10 final, article 16.11.1.3 of the PSL Playing Conditions dictates that the team with the higher standing at the conclusion of the league stage will be declared the champions.
The Quetta Gladiators, champions of 2019, concluded the PSL 10 standings in first place with 15 points from 10 matches, whereas the Qalandars finished in fourth place with 11 points from an equal number of matches.
