Jason Knauf Appointed as CEO of Earthshot Prize

Jason Knauf, previously the CEO of The Royal Foundation and former communications secretary at Kensington Palace, has been named the new chief executive of Prince William’s Earthshot Prize.

Knauf will succeed Hannah Jones, who is stepping down from her role after a tenure of four years.

Jones will continue her association with Kensington Palace by providing strategic counsel.

Knauf’s prior role as Prince William’s communications secretary included involvement in the widely reported tensions between Prince Harry and his older brother.

He is married to Brittani Snowdale, and they have two children.

During his time at Kensington Palace, Knauf managed communications for Prince William, Kate Middleton, and Prince Harry.

Following Meghan’s entry into the royal family after her engagement to Harry in 2017, Knauf’s duties expanded to encompass her communications management as well.

Prince William recognized Jason Knauf’s service by awarding him the Lieutenant of the Royal Victorian Order in May 2023.

Knauf’s appointment occurs shortly after Prince William’s announcement that The Earthshot Prize will be held in Rio in November 2025.

According to a statement released on Earthshot Prize social media, “With Rio’s stunning scenery and vibrant atmosphere as a backdrop, we are drawing attention to innovators at the intersection of innovation and nature, all working towards the revitalization of our planet.”
