Senior Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Senator Taj Haider, who died last night, will be buried at the Abdullah Shah Ghazi shrine in Clifton.
The funeral for the late politician took place at Masjid-o-Imambargah Yasrab in DHA Phase IV. Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, Governor Kamran Tessori, and Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab, along with other political figures, were present.
Sindh Local Government Minister Saeed Ghani, Karachi Commissioner Hasan Naqvi, and provincial minister Nasir Hussain Shah were among the attendees.
Haider passed away at 83 after a short illness. His family stated that he had been receiving treatment at a private hospital.
Born on March 8, 1942, in Kota, Rajasthan, Haider came from a family known for its academic achievements. After partition, he moved to Pakistan and studied at Government Boys High School, Ranchor Lines, Karachi.
Initially, Haider explored fine arts and became a television writer. He also wrote columns for newspapers and starred in his drama serial, *Aabla Pa*, as Professor Adi Wala.
His political involvement began in 1967 when he attended the Socialist Convention. That same year, he joined the PPP as a founding member.
Haider received the Sitara-e-Imtiaz in 2012 for his contributions to literature and science. In 2006, he won the 13th PTV Award for Best Drama Serial Writer.
Politicians, journalists, and government officials have widely expressed their condolences following Haider’s death.
