Power Division Denies Ban on Multiple Electricity Meters

The Power Division refuted social media reports on Sunday claiming a “ban on installing two electricity meters,” calling the information entirely inaccurate and a deliberate attempt to incite public disturbance.

A spokesperson for the Power Division stated that obtaining a second electricity meter for residential properties is still permissible under existing regulations. Citing the NEPRA Consumer Services Manual 2021, the spokesperson clarified that any residential unit with a separate section, circuit, entrance, and kitchen qualifies for an additional meter installation.

The spokesperson added that disseminating such incorrect information is a violation punishable under the PECA Act.

The Power Division clarified that regulations aimed at preventing electricity misuse and unauthorized subsidy benefits remain in full effect.

The public is urged to disregard these false reports and collaborate with electricity distribution companies to ensure proper and transparent electricity meter usage, guaranteeing that eligible recipients receive their entitlements promptly and justly, according to the Power Division.
