Pakistan to Host 2027 SCO Summit, Preparations Underway
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has revealed that Pakistan will be the host nation for the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit in 2027. He has directed that preparations for this major international event should commence immediately.
The Prime Minister’s announcement came on Friday during the groundbreaking ceremony for the T-Chowk flyover project in Islamabad.
PM Shehbaz Sharif stated that there are plans to enhance the aesthetics of Islamabad in anticipation of the summit. He also mentioned a plant donation from Tajikistan to Pakistan, adding to the beautification efforts.
He noted that efforts to enhance Constitution Avenue are already in progress, with the expectation of vibrant floral displays in the coming weeks.
The Prime Minister also noted that Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Railways Minister Hanif Abbasi are collaborating on new transit solutions for Rawalpindi and Islamabad. Included among these projects is a proposed rail car system, designed to improve transportation for residents of both cities.
He emphasized that the federal government is committed to providing comprehensive support to ensure efficient and convenient travel infrastructure.
The Prime Minister also indicated the introduction of eco-friendly electric vehicles as part of environmental preservation efforts. He added that numerous additional projects are currently underway, supervised by the interior minister.
