Afridi Promises Growth and Comeback After Zalmi’s PSL Exit
Javed Afridi, the owner of Peshawar Zalmi, has voiced his disappointment after the team’s elimination from the current Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10. The 2017 champions did not secure a spot in the playoffs for the first time ever.
Afridi used social media platform X (previously Twitter) to connect with the team’s devoted fanbase in an open message.
While acknowledging the sting of defeat, he reiterated the franchise’s dedication to advancement, nurturing talent, and staging a more powerful return in upcoming seasons.
“To our passionate Zalmi fans:
This season’s outcome hurts, but this platform remains a launchpad for national careers. “Major changes” are coming—we’ll rebuild with grit and purpose. InshaAllah.

Notably, Peshawar Zalmi, led by Babar, saw their consistent presence in the PSL playoffs conclude abruptly with a 26-run loss to Lahore Qalandars in Rawalpindi.
The rain-affected, must-win match required Zalmi to chase a 150-run target in 13 overs but they only managed 123 for 8.
This outcome marked the end of one of the most reliable legacies in PSL history. Since the league began, Zalmi had always reached the knockout stage, claiming the title in 2017 under Darren Sammy and participating in four finals overall.
Zalmi wrapped up their 2025 PSL campaign with four victories and six defeats in ten games, ending with eight points and a net run-rate of -0.293.
