LAHORE: Mohsin Naqvi, Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), extended his congratulations to Sana Mir on Tuesday for her induction into the ICC Hall of Fame. He hailed it as a moment of pride for the nation and a significant achievement in the history of women’s cricket.

In an official statement issued by the PCB, Naqvi commended Mir’s distinguished career and her pivotal contribution to elevating Pakistan’s standing on the global stage.

“Well done, Sana Mir. As a Pakistani, you have brought immense honor to our country. You have raised our flag and garnered international recognition for Pakistan,” Naqvi stated.

Naqvi emphasized that Mir’s commitment and influence have established her as a national treasure and an inspiration for aspiring female cricketers throughout the country.

“Sana Mir is more than just a cricketer; she embodies hope, strength, and serves as an inspiration for countless young girls. Her induction into the ICC Hall of Fame represents a historic landmark for women’s cricket in Pakistan,” he added.

He further praised her for pursuing ambitious goals, working diligently, and creating a lasting legacy that will encourage future generations.

“Sana Mir dared to dream, worked relentlessly, and made history. Today, one Sana Mir has received this esteemed honor, and hopefully, the day is near when many more Pakistani women cricketers will follow in her footsteps,” Naqvi concluded.

It is important to note that Mir, a leading figure in Pakistan’s women’s cricket, was formally inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame on Monday, becoming the first Pakistani woman to achieve this distinction.

The former off-spinner, who represented Pakistan for approximately 15 years, is the first female cricketer from the nation to be included in this prestigious list.

She is the eighth Pakistani cricketer overall to be inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame, joining notable figures such as Imran Khan, Wasim Akram, Javed Miandad, Abdul Qadir, Zaheer Abbas, Waqar Younis, and Hanif Mohammad.

Mir also stands as only the 14th female cricketer globally to be inducted into this exclusive group.
