Pakistan Achieves Victory Against Belgium in U19 Volleyball Championship Debut
Pakistan commenced their journey at the FIVB boys’ U19 Volleyball World Championship with a remarkable straight-set triumph over Belgium in their initial match in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, on Thursday.
Despite their 19th global ranking, the Pakistani team overwhelmed the seventh-ranked Belgian squad, securing a decisive 3-0 victory with set scores of 25-19, 25-17, and 25-22.
Captain Yahya showcased leadership with a noteworthy performance, contributing 11 points, while middle blocker Saud stood out as the highest scorer, amassing 13 points, including nine from attacks and four from blocks.
Pakistan demonstrated superior performance across various facets of the game, recording 32 attacks, 11 blocks, and two service points, contrasting with Belgium’s 28 attacks, six blocks, and one service point.
The team also capitalized on their opponent’s errors, gaining 30 points. Demonstrating their teamwork, Pakistan achieved 70 digs, 63 receptions, and 111 sets.
Other significant contributors included Jibran with seven points, Ajmal with five, Muhtad with five, and setter Abu Bakar adding two points.
Pakistan’s defense and net play were instrumental in suppressing the Belgian attack.
Pakistan is scheduled to encounter Uzbekistan, the host nation, on Friday in their subsequent group-stage match, aiming to leverage their initial victory and sustain their forward progress in the competition.
