Telecom Subscribers Exceed 200 Million in Pakistan

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) announced on Thursday that the number of telecom subscribers in the nation has surpassed 200 million, describing this as a “historic milestone” demonstrating Pakistan’s rapid digital expansion.

According to the PTA, the achievement of crossing 200 million telecom subscribers nationwide, including 150 million broadband and over 2 million Fiber To The Home (FTTH) subscribers, underscores Pakistan’s swift digital advancement and the PTA’s dedication to comprehensive connectivity.

Telecom Sector Demonstrates Strong Performance

To commemorate this achievement, the PTA and Chief Marketing Officers (CMOs) from Jazz, Telenor, Ufone, Zong, and SCO are providing all mobile users with 2GB of complimentary data and 200 on-net minutes, valid for 24 hours on June 20, 2025.

Subscribers can access this offer by dialing the short code *2200# on all mobile networks.

In a move to promote digital inclusion, particularly for female students, the PTA, in collaboration with PTCL, Transworld, Nayatel, Cybernet, and Wateen, is setting up free Wi-Fi hotspots for six months at selected HEC-recognized universities, including women’s universities. The aim is to empower students by enhancing their access to digital resources.

Furthermore, the PTA stated that mobile manufacturers have donated 200 locally assembled smartphones. These devices will be distributed among female SIM owners through computerized balloting across Pakistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan.
