Information Minister Warns of Potential Indian Military Action
In a statement released early Wednesday, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar cautioned about a possible military incursion by India into Pakistan within the next 24 to 36 hours.
“Pakistan possesses reliable intelligence indicating India’s intention to initiate a military strike in the coming 24 to 36 hours, exploiting the Pahalgam incident as a fabricated justification,” the minister stated during a press briefing and in a post on X.
“Any demonstration of hostility will encounter a determined reaction. India will bear full accountability for any severe ramifications in the region,” he added.
The warning follows an incident in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) where gunmen targeted tourists, resulting in 26 fatalities and 17 injuries. India has accused Pakistan of involvement, a claim that Islamabad has refuted.
The assault transpired in a meadow within the Pahalgam vicinity. Among the deceased were 25 Indian citizens and one Nepalese national.
This event has heightened tensions between Pakistan and India, subsequently leading to New Delhi’s suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty and Islamabad’s decision to close its airspace to Indian flights.
Earlier on Tuesday, Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar affirmed that Pakistan would not instigate hostilities with India. However, he cautioned that any provocation would be met with a forceful response from Islamabad.
