Information Minister Warns of Potential Indian Military Action
In a late-night announcement on Wednesday, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar cautioned about a possible military strike by India against Pakistan within the next 24 to 36 hours.
The minister conveyed this warning through a press conference and a post on X, stating, “Pakistan possesses reliable intelligence indicating India’s intention to initiate a military strike in the coming 24 to 36 hours, deceptively using the Pahalgam incident as justification.”
He further stated, “Any aggressive move will face a strong reaction. India will bear complete accountability for any severe repercussions in the region.”
The warning follows an incident in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), where gunmen killed twenty-six individuals and wounded seventeen. India has attributed the attack to Pakistan, a claim that Islamabad has refuted.
The assault occurred in a meadow within the Pahalgam region and resulted in the deaths of 25 Indian nationals and one Nepalese citizen.
This event has heightened tensions between Pakistan and India, subsequently leading to New Delhi’s suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty and Islamabad’s decision to close its airspace to Indian aircraft.
Earlier on Tuesday, Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar affirmed that while Pakistan would not start hostilities with India, it would respond forcefully if provoked.
