Pakistan Advocates for Dialogue with India on Key Issues

In Baku on Wednesday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif once again urged India to engage in discussions to ensure enduring peace within the region. He emphasized the need for both nations to address crucial matters such as Kashmir, water disputes, and terrorism through negotiations.

“For the sake of peace, we must convene and engage in dialogue. Several issues require prompt attention and resolution via discussion,” the Prime Minister stated during the Pakistan-Turkiye-Azerbaijan Trilateral Summit, alongside presidents Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Ilham Aliyev.

This summit occurred amidst the Prime Minister’s ongoing tour of four nations, aimed at expressing gratitude for their support to Pakistan during its recent challenges.

Prior to this, the Prime Minister concluded a two-day official visit to Iran before proceeding to Azerbaijan. Following visits to Turkiye, Iran, and Azerbaijan, he is scheduled to visit Tajikistan.

Addressing the summit, PM Shehbaz emphasized Pakistan’s consistent dedication to regional stability, stating, “We sought peace in the past, we seek peace today, and we will continue to strive for peace in the times ahead.”

The Prime Minister also stated that Pakistan is pursuing a resolution to the Kashmir issue that aligns with the resolutions set forth by the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) and reflects the desires of the Kashmiri population. Furthermore, Pakistan is prepared to engage in discussions with India regarding counterterrorism measures, contingent upon New Delhi’s demonstration of sincerity.
