As part of a significant diplomatic restructuring, Pakistan is set to replace its ambassadors in eight capital cities. This includes key postings in Russia, Australia, Romania, Myanmar, Bangladesh, Niger, Kyrgyzstan, and Ireland. The reshuffle also involves the appointment of two new consul generals to important consulates.

Key Ambassadorial Appointments
  • Russia: Aisha Farooqui, currently serving as Pakistan’s ambassador to Ireland, will succeed Dr. Khalid Jamali as the ambassador in Moscow.
  • Ireland: Maryam Aftab, the current additional foreign secretary for the Americas, will take over as ambassador to Ireland.
  • Kyrgyzstan: Altamash Wazir Khan, the director general Middle East at the Foreign Office, will be assigned to Kyrgyzstan.
  • Australia: Irfan Shaukat will be appointed as the new high commissioner for Australia, succeeding Zahid Hafeez Chaudhary in Canberra.
