PM Expresses Concern Over Attacks, Urges De-escalation

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has voiced significant apprehension regarding the recent missile strikes on a US military installation in Qatar. He emphasized the critical need for all possible measures to be taken to reduce escalating tensions and re-establish stability within the region.

Solidarity with Qatar

During a phone conversation with Qatar’s ambassador to Pakistan, Ali Mubarak Ali Essa Al-Khater, PM Shehbaz conveyed his support to the Qatari government and its people during this challenging period.

The Qatari ambassador expressed his appreciation to the Prime Minister for his prompt outreach following these regrettable events.

Dialogue with Saudi Arabia

Separately, PM Shehbaz also spoke with Saudi Arabia’s ambassador to Pakistan, Nawaf bin Saeed Al Malkiy, highlighting the importance of mitigating tensions in the Middle East.

“Pakistan will continue its close collaboration with Saudi Arabia to enhance efforts aimed at achieving peace,” he stated.

The Saudi ambassador thanked the Prime Minister for his immediate contact after the development, recognizing the potential threat to regional peace and stability.

Both envoys agreed that Saudi Arabia and Pakistan should maintain close collaboration and coordination to ensure a swift and peaceful resolution to the ongoing disputes in the Middle East.

Earlier Attack Details

Reports indicate that earlier, Iran launched a missile strike on the US Al Udeid Air Base, a major American military hub located in the Gulf state.

The assault, characterized by the Iranian military as “devastating and impactful,” signifies a considerable intensification of the broadening conflict.

This action was in response to recent US aerial operations targeting Iranian nuclear facilities in Fordow, Isfahan, and Natanz using substantial bunker-buster munitions. The US had allied with Israel’s military actions against Iran following what it described as violations of international nuclear protocols.
