Pakistan Expected to Announce Squad for Bangladesh T20I Series

LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is set to reveal the national team lineup for the forthcoming T20I tour of Bangladesh later in the week, sources have indicated.

The team is slated to participate in a three-match T20I series against Bangladesh in Dhaka from July 20-24.

Sources suggest that the squad is unlikely to see significant alterations, although a noteworthy addition may occur, with left-arm spinner Sufiyan Muqeem likely joining the touring contingent.

Preparations for the series will commence with a training camp for the Pakistan T20 squad at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi starting July 7.

Key players such as Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and Shaheen Afridi, who were rested during the recent home series against Bangladesh, are currently not factored into the plans for an indefinite period.

Notably, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has verified that all three T20Is will take place at the Shere-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka, with each match beginning at 5:00 PM Pakistan Standard Time.

The Pakistan team’s arrival in Bangladesh is scheduled for July 16.

The series opener is set for July 20, followed by the subsequent matches on July 22 and 24, respectively.

The two teams last competed in a T20I series in May, where Pakistan achieved a clean sweep of 3-0 on their home ground.

The series began with Pakistan dismissing Bangladesh for 164 after posting 201/6, clinching a 37-run victory. In the second match, the hosts defended the same score, restricting Bangladesh to 144 and securing a 57-run win.

Bangladesh displayed resilience in the third match, setting a competitive target of 197, boosted by Parvez Hossain Emon’s dynamic half-century.

However, Pakistan efficiently chased down the target with three wickets remaining and 16 balls to spare, propelled by a remarkable century from wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Haris.
