Pakistan Shaheens Begin Top End T20 Series Against Bangladesh ‘A’
The Pakistan Shaheens squad arrived in Darwin on Sunday night to participate in the Top End T20 Series, scheduled from August 14 to 24.
The 15-member Shaheens contingent reached Darwin International Airport early Sunday. The squad, captained by Mohammad Irfan Khan, will compete in the 11-team tournament. They will commence their campaign on August 14 against Bangladesh ‘A’.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) implemented two alterations to the initial squad prior to the event.
Mohammad Faiq has taken the place of batter Haider Ali, who received a temporary suspension due to a breach of discipline. Pacer Mohammad Wasim Jnr. has been included in the squad, replacing left-arm fast bowler Salman Mirza.
Salman was previously excluded from the national team for the recent T20I series against the West Indies, despite a strong debut in the Bangladesh series earlier in the year, where he secured seven wickets in three matches with an economy rate of 5.21.
The Shaheens’ roster also includes experienced international players such as Abdul Samad (five T20Is), Faisal Akram (three ODIs), and Mubasir Khan (one T20I).
Following their first match, the Shaheens will compete against Scorchers on August 16 and Renegades on August 18 at TIO Stadium. Subsequently, they will face Kingsmen on August 19, Strikers on August 21, and Nepal on August 22 at the DXC Arena. The semi-finals and final are scheduled for August 24.
