Pakistan Warns of Potential Indian Military Action
ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Attaullah Tarar, has stated that Pakistan possesses reliable intelligence concerning possible military action by India within the next 24 to 36 hours.
In a video statement released late Tuesday, Tarar asserted, “Pakistan has credible intelligence indicating India’s intent to conduct military operations against Pakistan in the coming 24-36 hours, citing unsubstantiated and fabricated allegations related to the Pahalgam incident.”
The minister cautioned that such actions would have “catastrophic repercussions for the entire region and beyond.” He firmly rejected what he described as India’s “self-proclaimed hubristic role of judge, jury, and executioner in the region,” deeming it utterly “reckless.”
This warning surfaces amidst escalating tensions between the two nuclear-armed nations following the Pahalgam attack in the disputed territory.
Relations between Islamabad and New Delhi have deteriorated considerably recently, after the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty by India, accompanied by significant diplomatic measures.
Subsequently, Pakistan responded by closing its airspace to Indian airlines, among other actions.
India attributes the attack to Pakistan, an accusation vehemently denied by Islamabad, which also labeled it a “false flag operation.” Pakistan has proposed a credible, transparent, and independent investigation by a neutral expert commission to determine the truth.
Security sources reported that on Wednesday, four Rafale fighter jets from the Indian Air Force (IAF) conducted patrols in IIOJK the previous night but were compelled to withdraw following timely identification and response by the Pakistan Air Force (PAF).
The sources stated, “On the night of April 29/30, four Indian Rafale jets conducted patrols within Indian geographical boundaries.”
Pakistani forces are prepared to deliver a fitting response to any Indian aggression, they added.
Amidst the potential for a conflict between the two nations, the United States has intervened diplomatically. Secretary of State Marco Rubio is set to engage with the foreign ministers of both countries to encourage de-escalation.
US State Department Spokesperson Tammy Bruce informed reporters during a press briefing, “We are reaching out to both parties, urging them, of course, to avoid escalating the situation.”
Highlighting Pakistan’s contributions to combating terrorism, the information minister emphasized, “Pakistan has suffered from terrorism and deeply understands the anguish it inflicts.”
Tarar added, “We have consistently condemned it in all forms and manifestations, regardless of location.”
As a responsible nation, he emphasized that Pakistan willingly offered a credible, transparent, and independent inquiry by a neutral panel of specialists to ascertain the facts.
The minister stressed, “Regrettably, instead of pursuing a rational course, India has seemingly chosen a perilous path of irrationality and confrontation, with potentially catastrophic consequences for the entire region and beyond.”
He asserted that “avoidance of credible investigations is itself compelling evidence exposing India’s true intentions.”
The minister added, “It is unfortunate and regrettable to consciously make strategic decisions hostage to public sentiments, purposefully inflated to achieve political goals.”
Pakistan reiterated that any such military adventurism by India would be met with a resolute and decisive response.
Tarar emphasized, “The international community must recognize that India will bear full responsibility for any escalatory spiral and its resulting consequences.”
He reaffirmed the nation’s commitment to defending Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity at all costs.
