Pakistan Oilfields Limited Announces Significant Hydrocarbon Discovery in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
Pakistan Oilfields Limited (POL) revealed on Thursday a substantial hydrocarbon discovery at the Makori Deep-03 development well, situated in the TAL block within the Karak district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The Exploration and Production (E&P) company communicated this development through a notice submitted to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX).
“We are pleased to announce that, based on information from MOL (the operator of the TAL Block), a significant amount of hydrocarbons has been found from the development well, Makori Deep-03, in the Karak district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,” the notification stated.
POL’s pre-commerciality working interest in the TAL block stands at 25%.
The E&P entity reported that the drilling of the Makori Deep-03 well started on December 12, 2024, reaching a total depth of 3,887 meters.
“Following completion, the well produced 22.08 MMSCF of gas per day and 2,112 barrels of condensate per day, along with 15 barrels per day of water, using a 32/64” fixed choke at a flowing wellhead pressure of 4,744 psi from the Lockhart formation,” the notice elaborated.
POL indicated that the well would be linked to the production line within the next two months.
The TAL joint venture consists of OGDCL (30% working interest), MOL Pakistan Oil & Gas Co. B.V. (the Operator) (10%), PPL (30%), POL (25%), and Government Holdings Private Limited (GHPL) (5%).
Notably, MOL Group is an international oil and gas corporation with headquarters in Budapest, Hungary.
Previously, Pakistan’s E&Ps, including POL, OGDC, and PPL, discovered hydrocarbon deposits at the Razgir-1 exploratory well in the Kawagarh formation, located in the Kohat district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
