Pakistan Condemns India’s Actions in IIOJK
Pakistan has strongly denounced India’s persistent mistreatment and state-sponsored oppression of Kashmiris residing in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
In a declaration released on Friday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) asserted that the inhabitants of IIOJK face extensive rights infringements, a stark contrast to the civil and political liberties enjoyed by residents of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).
MoFA noted that individuals in AJK actively participate in shaping their democratic trajectory, adding that Pakistan remains dedicated to safeguarding their dignity and rights, including the entitlement to peaceful assembly and demonstration.
The Foreign Ministry emphasized that this dedication mirrors not only the constitutional duty but also the enduring ethical commitment to the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
Pakistan implored India to adhere to its responsibilities under international law and the United Nations (UN) Charter regarding IIOJK, instead of leveling unsubstantiated accusations concerning AJK.
MoFA stated that the employment of excessive force, suppression of essential freedoms, and organized severe breaches of human rights have become characteristic of India’s state-sponsored terrorism targeted at the innocent Kashmiri populace, aimed at quelling their legitimate struggle.
Furthermore, the Ministry added that initiatives aimed at stifling dissent, manipulating demographics, and denying civil liberties highlight the gravity of the circumstance.
The foreign ministry restated Pakistan’s insistence on granting the people of IIOJK their right to self-determination, in accordance with the relevant UN Security Council resolutions.
Pakistan maintains that resolving the Kashmir dispute is crucial for achieving lasting peace and stability in South Asia, as per the MoFA.
The declaration follows the resumption of formal discussions between the Jammu Kashmir Awami Action Committee (JKAAC) and a government-appointed delegation in Muzaffarabad.
The action committee has been organizing demonstrations in AJK, advocating for various demands, including the abolishment of 12 reserved seats for refugees and the revocation of “privileges of the elite”.
