Pakistan to Participate in Key UAE Cricket Events
LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is reportedly planning a training camp for the national cricket team in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) prior to the tri-nation T20 series that includes Afghanistan and the UAE, according to inside sources on Tuesday.
Sources indicate the training camp is scheduled to commence around August 22, aiming to help the Pakistani team adapt to the environment.
The national team, known as the Green Shirts, is slated to participate in two significant tournaments in the UAE: the aforementioned tri-nation series and the Asia Cup 2025 in September.
The triangular series is set to begin on August 29 at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium and will continue until September 7. Pakistan is slated to play its first match against Afghanistan on August 29, starting at 7:00 PM local time.
During the series, each team will compete against the others twice, with the top two teams moving on to the final match on September 7.
Insiders also suggest that the team might see a couple of changes for the triangular tournament, while a complete, formidable squad is anticipated for the Asia Cup.
The Asia Cup 2025, which will utilize the T20I format, is scheduled to be held in the UAE from September 9 to 28.
After a period of uncertainty because of disagreements involving the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the tournament was officially confirmed after recent talks.
Participating teams include India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Hong Kong, Oman, and the UAE, the host country. These teams have been divided into two groups of four, and the top two teams from each group will advance to the Super Four stage.
The opening match of the group stage is scheduled for September 9, featuring a contest between Afghanistan and Hong Kong in Dubai. The highly anticipated match between Pakistan and India is scheduled for September 14.
