Mike Hesson Appointed as Pakistan’s White-Ball Coach

LAHORE: Mohsin Naqvi, Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), has officially announced that Mike Hesson, former New Zealand cricketer and respected coach, will be the new white-ball coach for the Pakistan national team.

This appointment is effective immediately, commencing on May 26.

Naqvi shared this information on ‘X’, stating, “I am delighted to reveal that Mike Hesson, the former New Zealand cricketer and seasoned coach, is joining us as the head coach for Pakistan’s white-ball squad.”

“Mike brings substantial international experience and a history of building competitive teams. We anticipate his knowledge and direction will greatly contribute to shaping the future of Pakistan’s white-ball cricket. Welcome to the team, Mike!” he added.

Hesson’s inclusion occurs before Pakistan’s scheduled five-match T20I series against Bangladesh this month.

However, the Bangladesh series might be postponed because the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10 finale is on May 25.

The first match in Faisalabad was originally planned for May 25, but the PSL final now coincides with that date, making it necessary to reschedule the series. More information will be shared soon.

Hesson brings vast experience to the role, having coached New Zealand from 2012 to 2018, taking over from John Wright.

During his tenure, New Zealand saw notable success globally. Hesson has also coached in the Indian Premier League (IPL), proving his ability to excel in demanding settings.
