Strengthening Security and Economic Ties Between Pakistan and China
Pakistan and China have once again reaffirmed their unwavering commitment to fight terrorism and ensure the secure advancement of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). This pledge was made during the seventh round of the Pakistan-China Foreign Ministers’ Strategic Dialogue, held in Beijing.
The dialogue was co-chaired by Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi. Both leaders emphasized the importance of deepening cooperation in counter-terrorism, security, and economic development. Their joint statement highlighted a zero-tolerance stance against terrorism, underscoring the need for a safe environment to advance Belt and Road projects.
CPEC remains a cornerstone of Pakistan-China relations, serving as a flagship initiative under the Belt and Road framework. Both countries agreed that securing these projects is essential for regional stability and prosperity. By strengthening counter-terrorism collaboration, Pakistan and China aim to safeguard investments and ensure uninterrupted progress on infrastructure and energy projects.
The strategic dialogue also covered broader aspects of bilateral relations, including diplomacy, defense, trade, and cultural exchanges. Leaders from both sides reiterated that their partnership is not only vital for their nations but also for peace and development across South Asia.
Pakistan’s foreign minister highlighted the country’s dedication to fostering mutual trust and advancing socio-economic growth through enhanced cooperation with China. Wang Yi echoed these sentiments, describing the Pakistan-China friendship as “ironclad” and essential for regional peace.
This renewed commitment reflects the evolving depth of Pakistan-China ties. By prioritizing security and economic collaboration, both nations are setting the stage for a stronger, more resilient partnership that can withstand regional challenges while promoting shared prosperity.
