Pakistan Champions Add Rumman Raees to WCL 2025 Squad, Announce Hafeez as Captain
The Pakistan Champions have revealed that left-arm fast bowler Rumman Raees will join their team for the second edition of the World Championship of Legends (WCL) 2025, which will be held in Birmingham later this month.
The franchise officially announced the inclusion on social media on Sunday, welcoming the 33-year-old as a valuable addition to their roster.
The announcement stated, “Welcome aboard! Team owner Kamil Khan welcomes Rumman Raees to the Pakistan Champions family. Let’s ignite the field!”
Raees responded with a playful tweet, reminiscing about Pakistan’s victorious 2017 Champions Trophy team:
“Hafeez, Shoaib, Maddy, Wahab, and Saifi – if all the 2017 Champions Trophy players are together, should I pack my kit bag too?”
Raees brings significant experience to the squad, having participated in 128 T20 matches, including eight for the national team.
Throughout his career, he has secured 131 wickets at an average of 24.61 and an economy rate of 7.53. For Pakistan, he claimed eight wickets with an economy of 7.63.
Earlier in the week, the Pakistan Champions designated former all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez as their captain for the tournament, which features retired stars from six prominent cricketing nations: Pakistan, India, Australia, South Africa, England, and the West Indies.
The competition commences on July 18, with Pakistan Champions facing England Champions at Edgbaston Stadium.
The highly anticipated match between rivals Pakistan and India is scheduled for July 20 at the same venue.
