Pakistan Champions Gear Up for WCL 2025 Opener Against England

Umar Amin is poised to make his first appearance for the Pakistan Champions in the forthcoming 2025 edition of the World Championship of Legends (WCL), commencing on July 18.

The team is set to initiate their campaign against England Champions at the renowned Edgbaston Stadium in Birmingham.

The squad for season two has been verified, revealing several significant alterations from the prior season.

Notably, Misbah-ul-Haq and Younis Khan, prominent figures from the previous year’s team, are absent from the roster.

This year’s lineup welcomes former Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed, medium-pacer Rumman Raees, and middle-order batsman Umar Amin.

A leadership transition sees Mohammad Hafeez assuming the captaincy in his inaugural season with the Pakistan Champions.

The announcement was conveyed via a social media update, showcasing the team’s match schedule and player images.

The caption proclaimed, “The plan is set. The objectives are defined. Pakistan Champions are ready to dominate,” further stating, “Save the dates, choose your contest, assemble your team.”

During the first season, Pakistan Champions exhibited a noteworthy performance, beginning with a victory over Australia and a subsequent commanding win against the West Indies.

A highlight was their high-scoring match against India, where they achieved 243/4 and limited India to 175/9.

Under Younis Khan’s leadership, the team sustained their strong showing with a triumph over England but experienced their only defeat in the league stage against South Africa. They recovered in the semi-final, overcoming the West Indies by 20 runs to advance to the final.

However, in a gripping final against India, Pakistan couldn’t defend a score of 157, as India successfully chased the total in 19.1 overs, securing a five-wicket victory and the championship.

The WCL’s second iteration will once again feature legendary cricketers from six nations: India, Australia, England, Pakistan, South Africa, and the West Indies.

Attention will be heavily focused on the high-profile India-Pakistan match, scheduled for July 20 at Edgbaston.
