Islamabad – In line with the federal government’s rightsizing policy, the Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation (PBC), a subsidiary of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, has abolished 782 positions ranging from Grade 1 to 20. Additionally, 61 posts from Grade 1 to 8 have been classified as ‘dying’ posts, meaning they will not be refilled once vacated.
Government’s Decision to Reduce Workforce
The federal cabinet had earlier decided to eliminate 60% of vacant regular positions in government departments to optimize operations and reduce expenses. As a result, PBC has removed 227 posts from Grade 17 to 20 and 555 posts from Grade 1 to 16.
The decision was approved by the Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, and an official notification has been issued to formalize the changes.
Impact of Rightsizing on PBC
This restructuring is expected to:
- Reduce financial strain on the government
- Improve efficiency within PBC
- Streamline human resource management
- Align workforce requirements with operational needs
The move is part of broader government reforms aimed at enhancing the effectiveness of state-run institutions while maintaining fiscal discipline.
