Government Imposes Travel Ban on Deported Pakistanis

The government has initiated a new regulation that prohibits Pakistanis deported from international territories from traveling abroad for a period of five years.

According to sources within the Interior Ministry, this restriction will be applicable to individuals repatriated due to involvement in criminal activities or other forms of undesirable conduct. These individuals will be added to a designated roster of deported Pakistanis, thereby preventing them from undertaking overseas journeys.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi officially communicated the implementation of the revised Passport Control List (PCL) Policy in a formal declaration submitted to the Senate. As per the guidelines, citizens who have been deported will remain on the PCL for a duration of five years, during which they will not be eligible to apply for a new passport or engage in international travel.

The ministry’s written statement clarified that the five-year travel restriction is specifically targeted at those deported due to unlawful actions, criminal accusations, or involvement in other types of unacceptable behavior.

The policy also incorporates conditions for potentially extending the duration of the ban beyond the initial five-year term. Such extensions would require a formal request from the relevant government entity, accompanied by a comprehensive justification.

The passport regulations, having secured approval from the federal cabinet, are designed to oversee and manage the actions of individuals with a documented history of misbehavior in foreign countries.

This measure signifies a more stringent strategy by the government to handle citizens who have been sent back to Pakistan as a result of legal or behavioral infractions committed in other nations.
