Bangladesh to Tour Pakistan for T20I Series in May

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has formally announced that the Bangladesh cricket team will visit Pakistan in May for a series of five T20 International (T20I) matches.

The tour, initially planned under the Future Tours Programme (FTP) with three ODIs and three T20Is, has been adjusted.

Ahead of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup next year, both cricket boards have mutually decided to substitute the ODIs with two additional T20Is, aiming to enhance their teams’ readiness for the major tournament.

The T20I series will be held across two cities, Faisalabad and Lahore, spanning from May 25 to June 3.

Venues and Schedule

Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad, which recently hosted the Champions One-Day Cup in September and the National T20 Cup last month, is set to host the first two games on May 25 and 27.

Notably, Iqbal Stadium is returning to international cricket after a break of 17 years.

The stadium’s last international fixture was an ODI between Pakistan and Bangladesh in April 2008. From 1978 to 2008, this venue held 24 Test matches and 16 ODIs.

The remaining three matches are scheduled to take place at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on May 30, June 1, and June 3. All five matches are scheduled to commence at 8:00 PM local time.

The Bangladesh team is scheduled to arrive in Pakistan on May 21 and will conduct training sessions at Iqbal Stadium from May 22 to 24.

Historically, Pakistan has a strong record against Bangladesh in T20Is, with 16 wins out of 19 matches, while Bangladesh has secured three victories.
