COAS Asim Munir’s Official China Visit Strengthens Bilateral Ties
Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Asim Munir recently concluded an official visit to China, where he engaged in crucial discussions aimed at bolstering the strategic alliance between Islamabad and Beijing. This was according to a statement released on Friday by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
During his stay in Beijing, the COAS met with prominent Chinese political figures and military officers, including Vice President Han Zheng and Foreign Minister Wang Yi, as per details shared by the military’s media affairs wing.
The discussions centered on regional security, the changing global landscape, and collaborative efforts within the framework of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), stated the ISPR.
“Both parties voiced their satisfaction with the level of bilateral cooperation and reaffirmed their mutual dedication to sovereign equality, multilateral collaboration, and sustained regional stability,” the ISPR statement noted.
The Chinese government acknowledged the Pakistan Armed Forces as a pillar of strength and a key player in fostering peace within South Asia.
On the military side, the COAS held meetings with General Zhang Youxia, Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC), alongside other high-ranking officials from the People’s Liberation Army (PLA), such as General Chen Hui and Lieutenant General Cai Zhai Jun.
The discussions encompassed defense modernization, initiatives to combat terrorism, joint military exercises, and enhanced institutional coordination. Both sides particularly highlighted the importance of improving operational compatibility to address hybrid and cross-border threats.
The Chinese military underscored its unwavering confidence in the robustness of the bilateral defense partnership and recognized Pakistan’s indispensable role in advancing regional stability.
Field Marshal Munir expressed gratitude to the Chinese leadership for their steadfast support, reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to deepening military cooperation “across all domains.”
Upon his arrival at the PLA Army Headquarters, the COAS received an honorary guard, symbolizing the enduring friendship between the armed forces of both nations.
“The visit highlights the increasing depth of political-military relations between the two nations and emphasizes their shared determination to foster regional peace through continuous, high-level engagement,” the military’s media wing concluded.
