US Urges Pakistan and India to Seek Peaceful Resolution

Amid rising tensions following the Pahalgam incident in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), the United States has once again encouraged Pakistan and India to pursue a responsible solution.

When questioned about Secretary Rubio’s communications with his Indian counterpart and the Prime Minister of Pakistan on Wednesday, State Department Spokesperson Tammy Bruce stated, “Secretary Rubio urged both nations to strive for a responsible resolution that preserves lasting peace and regional stability in South Asia. We remain in contact with both governments at various levels.”

Tensions have decreased somewhat since Marco Rubio’s phone calls to the leaders of both countries. However, the Indian government’s rhetoric has continued. Bruce stated in response to another question that, “There is continuous engagement. This administration maintains ongoing communication. We are requesting a responsible resolution from both sides.”

The State Department spokesperson restated Washington’s dedication to supporting India. Tammy Bruce emphasized during the press briefing, “As the President (Donald Trump) stated to PM Modi last week, the United States stands firmly with India in the fight against terrorism, and PM Modi has our complete support.”

The two nuclear-armed neighbors are experiencing increased tensions following the April 22 attack on tourists in the picturesque resort town in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), which resulted in at least 26 deaths.

Without providing any proof, New Delhi connected Islamabad to the incident and implemented a series of punitive measures to reduce relations, including suspending the Indus Waters Treaty, canceling Pakistani visas, and shutting the Wagah-Attari border crossing.

Islamabad reacted by ordering the expulsion of Indian diplomats and military advisors, revoking visas for Indian citizens with the exception of Sikh pilgrims, and closing the main border crossing from its side.

Pakistan has refuted involvement in the assault and offered to participate in a trustworthy and open inquiry.
