Road Accidents Claim 376 Lives in Karachi in 2025

Data from rescue services reveals that at least 376 individuals have died and 5,503 have been injured in road accidents across Karachi during the first 151 days of 2025.

Victim Demographics

The fatalities include 289 men, 40 women, 37 boys, and 10 girls, underscoring the pervasive consequences of traffic incidents across various demographics.

Injury Statistics

Among the injured are 4,379 men, 809 women, 242 boys, and 73 girls, highlighting the critical state of road safety in the city.

Role of Heavy Vehicles

The statistics also highlighted the involvement of large vehicles, which accounted for 120 deaths this year.

Rescue sources indicated that in 2024, the metropolis reported 775 fatalities and 8,111 injuries due to road accidents.

The announcement follows the tragic deaths of four motorcyclists in separate accidents throughout Karachi on Friday.

Recent months have seen numerous accidents involving speeding dumper trucks, resulting in fatalities and injuries, prompting authorities to implement safety protocols.

In March, Additional IG Karachi Javed Alam Odho stressed that collaborative efforts are essential for managing traffic challenges.

He mentioned that current construction projects contribute to traffic congestion and that the Transport Department has a crucial role in resolving these issues.
