Dembele Declared Fit for Champions League Semifinal Second Leg
Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) striker Ousmane Dembele has recovered from a hamstring injury and is prepared for Wednesday’s Champions League semifinal second leg.
Dembele suffered the injury during last week’s first-leg match at Emirates Stadium, exiting the game in the second half.
The 27-year-old forward subsequently sat out PSG’s 2-1 defeat to Strasbourg in Ligue 1 on Saturday. In that match, Strasbourg secured a surprising victory thanks to a Lucas Hernandez own goal and a Felix Lemaréchal strike in stoppage time of the first half, despite Bradley Barcola’s goal for PSG in the 46th minute.
In recent news, Dembele began training on Monday to prepare for the crucial match.
Manager Luis Enrique stated, “He has been training with the team for the past two days.”
“He participated in a normal training session on Tuesday and will be available on Wednesday.”
Dembele, who transferred from Barcelona to PSG in 2023, currently leads the team in scoring with 33 goals across all competitions this season.
He was also instrumental in PSG’s victory over Arsenal in the Champions League semi-final first leg, where he scored the match’s only goal.
The French forward initiated the scoring in the fourth minute, converting a precise pass from Khvicha Kvaratskhelia with a superb strike, giving PSG an advantage heading into the second leg.
The decisive second leg will take place at Parc des Princes in Paris on May 8, with a spot in the Champions League final up for grabs.
