Pakistan Hikes Fixed Gas Charges for Consumers
The Pakistani government has declared a 50% surge in fixed gas rates for residential users, which took effect on July 1.
According to a declaration by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra), the fixed charges for protected category domestic consumers have been increased to Rs600 from Rs400. Meanwhile, non-protected category consumers (up to 1.5 hm3) will experience a rise to Rs1,500, contrasting with the previous rate of Rs1,000.
For non-protected consumers exceeding 1.5 cubic hectometres (hm3) in gas consumption, the fixed charges have been escalated to Rs3,000, up from the prior Rs2,000.
