PPP Chairman Warns of Nuclear Conflict Over Water Treaty

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari cautioned that a nuclear confrontation between Pakistan and India is a distinct possibility if New Delhi acts on its threats to revoke the Indus Waters Treaty (IWT). He denounced such threats as “water terrorism” and an act of war, demanding their immediate retraction.

His remarks alluded to India’s potential suspension of the IWT following the militant attack on April 22 in the Pahalgam region of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

“India and Pakistan are obligated to adhere to the IWT stipulations. India must reverse its stance and retract the threat,” he stated during a press briefing at the Pakistan High Commission, marking the end of his two-day visit to London.

He further warned that Pakistan might consider more assertive measures if India proceeds with the construction of new canals or dams on the three rivers within its territory. He asserted, “Should they proceed with such actions, Pakistan has clearly stated that it would regard it as an act of war.”

Bilawal, who leads the parliamentary delegation currently touring global capitals to garner support for Pakistan following the recent tensions with India, commended the Pakistan military for instilling national pride.

“We take pride in the Pakistan army’s triumph against India. The Pakistan Army demonstrated its capacity to overcome India on both military and diplomatic fronts.

“We have showcased and affirmed our military prowess. India’s conflict was rooted in deceit, and its entire narrative was built upon falsehoods. The global community now recognizes this truth,” he added.

The PPP chairman further alleged India’s involvement in transnational repression, citing evidence from Canadian and Western intelligence agencies, including the US government, indicating Indian involvement in acts of terrorism on Western soil.

He referenced the killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Canada and the attempted assassination of Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, the Sikhs For Justice (SFJ) leader, on US soil.

Bilawal noted that the Western world refrained from supporting India following the Pahalgaam incident due to the knowledge of India’s involvement in terrorism extending beyond its borders, into neighboring countries and even targeting Western nations.

He criticized Indian foreign minister Jaishankar for his threats to “strike deep inside Pakistan,” stating, “Jaishankar’s rhetoric is that of a warmonger, not a diplomat. The core issue is the rise of extremism within the Indian government. It is ironic that Modi leads a government whose reputation speaks volumes.”

“The world now sees India’s role in targeting Sikhs. India is a state sponsor of terrorism, making threats of missile strikes against Pakistan without providing any evidence. This is not a demonstration of strength but rather a dangerous indicator of regional instability. The world must question who is engaging in warmongering,” he added.

Bilawal highlighted that India has yet to provide any identification of the alleged terrorists involved in the Pahalgam attack. “The reality is that India knows Pakistan had no involvement in this attack, which is what they are concealing from their own population. The Pahalgam attack was the result of an intelligence failure on India’s part. India has lost its senses and is pursuing a war mongering strategy, but it will not succeed.”

He also welcomed President Donald Trump’s offer to mediate between India and Pakistan, expressing Pakistan’s gratitude for the US government’s pragmatic approach and its offer to mediate. “India is attempting to undermine Trump’s peace initiatives,” he stated.

Bilawal expressed gratitude to President Trump for bringing international attention to the issue of occupied Kashmir. “Kashmir is not a bilateral issue but an international issue, and India is compelled to address it. India now acknowledges that the issue has gained global recognition.”

He stated that Pakistan has already presented a comprehensive dossier to the world detailing India’s involvement in terrorism and will soon present a new dossier to the international community to expose the true extent of Indian terrorism.
