Nashra Sandhu Achieves Milestone in Women’s World Cup
COLOMBO: During the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 match held on Wednesday at the R. Premadasa Stadium against Australia, Pakistani spinner Nashra Sandhu etched her name in the record books with a series of remarkable accomplishments.
Sandhu’s three-wicket haul in the game has propelled her to become the highest wicket-taker for Pakistan in Women’s World Cup history. She now holds a total of 20 wickets from 16 matches.
In the match, she dismissed Ellyse Perry, who managed five runs from 11 balls, clean bowled Annabel Sutherland, who scored one run off five deliveries, and later claimed the wicket of Tahlia McGrath for five runs.
Sana Mir now stands in second position with 17 wickets from 18 matches, followed by Diana Baig in third place with 16 wickets, and Asmavia Iqbal with 14 wickets.
Additionally, the slow left-arm bowler has matched Nida Dar’s record, tying for the second-highest wicket-taker for Pakistan in Women’s ODIs.
Both Nashra and Nida now have 108 wickets each, with Nashra achieving this feat in 78 matches, while Dar reached it in 112 matches.
Sana Mir remains the leading wicket-taker for Pakistan in the 50-over format, having taken 151 wickets in 120 matches with an economy rate of 3.70.
