NAB Reports Significant Recoveries in First Half of 2025
ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has reported substantial recovery efforts, with Rs456 billion recovered in the second quarter of 2025 (April to June). This brings the total recoveries for the first half of the year (January to June) to Rs547 billion.
Furthermore, compensation was provided to 12,611 individuals who were victims in various fraudulent schemes.
Over the past couple of years, NAB has recovered a total of Rs 5,854.73 billion in movable and immovable assets. The bureau released its mid-year performance report for 2025, highlighting its dedication to fighting corruption and taking strong action against those who break the law.
The report emphasizes the bureau’s commitment to protecting public interests by intensifying efforts to recover funds obtained through illegal means.
The current recoveries represent a 700% increase compared to the Rs839.08 billion recovered since the bureau was established. Additionally, 12,611 people affected by various public fraud cases have received compensation.
Out of the Rs547.31 billion recovered in the first two quarters of 2025, movable and immovable assets worth Rs532.33 billion have been distributed or handed over to various federal and provincial government ministries and departments, as well as financial institutions.
The bureau’s continuous efforts are demonstrated by the recovery of Rs456.3 billion during the second quarter of 2025, which is a considerable rise of Rs365.29 billion compared to the Rs91.01 billion recovered in the first quarter of the year.
Currently, NAB is working with the Revenue Departments of all provinces to recover state assets and properties illegally held by corrupt individuals. Initial estimates suggest that state land worth approximately Rs5 trillion is in unlawful possession and will be reclaimed.
