PSL 10 Gears Up for Final Stage with Eight Games Left

LAHORE: Due to heightened tensions between neighboring countries, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has formally announced the relocation of the remaining HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 10 matches from Pakistan to the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

In an official declaration released on Thursday, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi addressed the decision, underscoring that player safety and tournament integrity are of utmost importance.

“The PCB has consistently asserted that politics and sports should remain separate,” Naqvi stated.

“However, the highly irresponsible and dangerous action by a neighboring country—deliberately targeting the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium—was a clear attempt to disrupt the ongoing HBL PSL 10. Considering this threat, the Board has resolved to move the remaining games to the UAE to safeguard our domestic and international players, who are our esteemed guests,” he added.

Naqvi further emphasised the significance of preserving the psychological well-being of all participants amidst rising tensions.

“As a responsible organization that has consistently overcome obstacles and ensured the prosperity of cricket, it was crucial for us to prioritize the mental health of all players involved in the HBL PSL,” he said.

“I regret that our local audience and cricket enthusiasts will be unable to witness these matches in Pakistan’s stadiums,” he added.

Despite these difficulties, the PCB chairman conveyed optimism that the cricket community and stakeholders would continue to support the league.

“As in the past, we hope that our stakeholders will unite with us to further the best interests of the tournament, our players, and the fans. We are dedicated to ensuring the league’s continued success,” he concluded.

Notably, the board declared the transfer of the remaining Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10 matches to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) because of the undesirable circumstances in the region.

The 27th match of the ongoing PSL 10 between Peshawar Zalmi and Karachi Kings, scheduled for the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, was postponed just hours before the toss.

This decision was a precaution taken in response to unfavorable circumstances, with authorities making the safety of all stakeholders a priority.

As PSL 10 reaches its final stages, only four league-stage matches and four playoff games are left.

Quetta Gladiators have already secured their spot in the playoffs, leading the points table with six wins, two losses, and one no result from nine matches.

Karachi Kings hold second place with 10 points, having achieved five wins and three losses in eight matches. Current champions Islamabad United are in third place, also with 10 points, after five wins and four losses in nine games.

Lahore Qalandars are positioned fourth with nine points, with four wins, four losses, and one no-result. Peshawar Zalmi are fifth with eight points from four wins in nine matches.

Multan Sultans have been eliminated from playoff contention, securing only one win and suffering eight defeats in their nine matches.
