Wasim Jr. Recovered from Side Strain Injury

LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced on Saturday that fast bowler Mohammad Wasim Jr. has fully recuperated and started practicing again, following his absence from the recent tours of Bangladesh and the West Indies due to an injury.

According to PCB sources, the right-arm bowler has successfully passed all required fitness evaluations and is now engaged in comprehensive training activities at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) situated in Lahore.

Authorities mentioned that Wasim is currently dedicated to improving his bowling technique, which had previously led to recurring fitness concerns despite earlier recoveries. These modifications are intended to lessen physical stress and guard against potential injuries in the future. The high-performance staff is carefully monitoring his progress.

It’s important to note that Wasim Jr. was excluded from the three-match T20I series against Bangladesh after experiencing a side strain during the tenth season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). He couldn’t get well enough to participate in the tour.

Earlier reports suggested that medical professionals had recommended a week of rest, after which Wasim commenced his rehabilitation program at the NCA.

The 23-year-old was also a member of the Pakistan team for the five-match T20I series held in New Zealand earlier this year, but he only participated in two matches, securing one wicket.

Specifically, Wasim Jr. delivered a strong showing in PSL 10 for the Quetta Gladiators, who finished as runners-up, claiming 10 wickets across eight games with an average of 20.80 and an economy rate of 7.38.

Presently, the Pakistan cricket team is in the United States, scheduled to participate in a series of three T20 and three ODI matches against the West Indies.

Pakistan initiated the T20 series with a victory, defeating the West Indies by 14 runs in the opening T20I.
