Salah Clinches Historic Premier League Awards, Equaling Golden Boot Record

Mohamed Salah enjoyed a phenomenal 2024-25 season, securing the Premier League Golden Boot, the Playmaker of the Season award, and establishing a new benchmark for combined goals and assists in a 38-game season.

With only minutes remaining in regulation time, Salah delivered a crucial equalizing goal against Crystal Palace this past Sunday. This ensured that Liverpool’s end-of-season celebration at Anfield remained vibrant and unblemished.

This pivotal moment marked Salah’s 47th goal involvement, bringing him level with icons such as Alan Shearer and Andrew Cole. Both Shearer and Cole had previously recorded 34 goals and 13 assists in their respective 42-game seasons.

The 32-year-old, having recently extended his tenure with Liverpool for an additional two years, tallied 29 goals and contributed 18 assists throughout the campaign. His contributions were instrumental in his club’s Premier League title victory.

Newcastle’s Alexander Isak trailed Salah by six goals, concluding the season with 23, while Manchester City’s Erling Haaland finished third, scoring 22 goals.

The Egyptian star has made history as the first player to simultaneously capture the Premier League’s Golden Boot for most goals, the Playmaker award for most assists, and the Player of the Season award in a single campaign. He also received the Football Writers’ Association (FWA) Footballer of the Year accolade.

Salah now shares the distinction of being the joint-highest Golden Boot winner (4) with former Arsenal legend, Theirry Henry. He also stands alone as the first player to achieve the Golden Boot-Playmaker double for a second instance, having first accomplished this feat in 2021-22.

Reflecting on lifting the Premier League trophy for the second time in his career, Salah expressed his joy in celebrating the victory with the fans at Anfield. He described it as an amazing and unforgettable experience.

“It’s amazing. The last time, we didn’t have the opportunity to lift the [Premier League] trophy in front of the Kop, but today we had the chance,” Salah stated.

“It is an incredible feeling. This is incredible for the club. Winning it for the second time with the fans in Anfield, especially after the Spurs game [when the title was clinched], was something special.”
