Mob Vandalizes Vehicles After Fatal Accident in Karachi

In Karachi, an enraged crowd torched a minimum of seven dumper trucks early Sunday following a tragic road accident on Rashid Minhas Road where two siblings lost their lives after being struck by a vehicle.

The unfortunate event occurred in the Federal B Area late Saturday night, where a truck collided with a motorcycle.

According to rescue services, the collision involved a truck and a motorcycle carrying a father and his two children. The impact resulted in critical injuries to all three.

The siblings, identified as 22-year-old Mahnoor and 14-year-old Ali Raza, succumbed to their injuries en route to a medical facility.

In the aftermath, area residents expressed their anger by setting multiple dumper trucks ablaze. Reports indicate that the crowd assaulted a dumper driver before turning him over to law enforcement.

The incident led to the suspension of traffic on Rashid Minhas Road, with diversions in place from Sohrab Goth flyover toward Shahrah-e-Pakistan Water Pump.

Firefighters successfully extinguished the flames, and authorities commenced the removal of the damaged trucks to facilitate the resumption of normal traffic flow.

Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori conveyed his profound sadness regarding the loss of life and offered prayers for the injured father’s swift recovery, as stated by the Governor House.

He further urged residents to avoid taking matters into their own hands.

Governor Tessori instructed the Sindh government to ensure the responsible driver faces severe penalties and to control the activities of the “dumper mafia”.

He emphasized, “The Sindh government must control the dumper mafia that is jeopardizing the safety of citizens.”
